In Memoriam

Gilbert Zaballos

February 18, 1938 - August 26, 2015

It is with deep sadness that the family of Gil Zaballos announces his passing.

Gil was born and raised in Hayward, Son of Resti and Genevieve Zaballos. He was a graduate of Hayward High School and San Jose State University, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.

As a partner in R. Zaballos & Sons and an active member of numerous Hayward business and philanthropic organizations Gil considered it
an honor to give back to his community.

Gil truly enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly Christmas Eve festivities, 4th of July fireworks up at the lake, and intergenerational
travel. Gil was an avid golfer at Castlewood Country Club, an active
member of Valley Community Church in Pleasanton and a member
of the Pleasanton Men’s Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Gretchen (Ecker),
daughter Allyson (Dwain) Berry of Danville, son Christian (Patricia) Zaballos of Oakland and daughter Noelle (Craig) Carpenter of Menlo Park.
Granddaughters Lily Zaballos, Kathryn Berry, Ainsley and Courtney Carpenter. Grandsons Henry and Theodore Zaballos, Kyle Berry and Nick Carpenter. He is also survived by his sister Diane Swanson and brothers Eugene and Resti, Jr. Brother Michael is deceased.

A Celebration of Life was held on Thursday, September 3rd at Valley Community Church, located at 4455 Del Valle Parkway, Pleasanton .

In lieu of flowers, Gil cared deeply about Shepherd’s Gate, The Salvation Army and Wounded Warrior Project.
